The Way of the (Disciple's) Cross | Philippians 2:4-11; Luke 9:23
In this Palm Sunday sermon, we explore the way of the cross as the ultimate embodiment of the Jesus Creed - the call to wholehearted love of God and neighbor.
As we see Jesus making his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, we are challenged to look beyond the crowds' political expectations and our own temptations to co-opt Jesus for our agendas. Instead, we are invited to fix our eyes on the cross, where Jesus models the path of humility, obedience, and sacrificial love that subverts worldly notions of power and success.
Through a deep dive into Philippians 2:4-11, we discover how the Jesus Creed radically redefines love as the willing surrender of status, rights, and self-interest for the sake of others. We are called to follow in Christ's footsteps, embracing the way of the cross in our daily lives and relationships.
Join us as we explore what it means to be faithful disciples, taking up our cross daily and walking in the way of the Jesus Creed.
