The Rich Man & Lazarus | Luke 16:19-31

In this sermon on the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, we explore Jesus' challenging call to reject the idolatry of money, power and status in order to truly love our neighbor. Through vivid imagery of gates and chasms, Jesus reveals how our present choices have long-term ramifications. Yet he offers profoundly good news - assurance that God sees the suffering. An invitation for the comfortable to cross over in compassion, and the promise that a life poured out in love is never wasted.

We'll unpack the meaning of this famous story and wrestle with how to avoid the blindness of the rich man. What "gates" is God calling us to cross in order to love our “Lazarus”? This parable pushes us to reorient our priorities around God's upside-down kingdom, discovering true life is found not in serving wealth but in emptying ourselves for others.
